Up and coming.

A while back I said that I'd be working with contemporary artist Mark Bradford (not face to face but mentally). I created this mixed media/painting for a project in class. It was a spin-off from his installation piece "Pinocchio is on Fire".

The piece is based off of Bradford's tale of Pinocchio. His creator, Gepetto, is not satisfied with the results of his wooden son. To become the "perfect boy" for his creator, Pinocchio leaves on a journey, only to find himself traveling through South Central L.A. during the crack epidemic and riots. Pinocchio lands in the middle of this turbulent time in history, only to have it almost destroy him.

...That's all that I can tell you about the concept. If you'd like to know more, visit www.pinocchioisonfire.org .
Don't worry, it's safe ^_^
Peace.
